The Direct Drive Hooded Reversible Roof Ventilator shall be manufactured by Hartzell Fan, Inc.®, Series 17. Standard sizes are 18" through 72".
The hooded reversible roof ventilator shall be a rugged, industrial design, consisting of a galvanneal steel base, galvanneal steel hood and a double steel orifice panel and motor mount. The hood is to be designed to provide easy access to the fan and motor (one piece hood for sizes 18" to 36" and two piece hood for sizes 42" to 72"). The base is designed such that dampers can be easily installed without further modifications to the unit.
The fan portion of the unit is to consist of a double steel orifice panel with a cast aluminum, airfoil type propeller. The propeller is mounted and secured by a split taper bushing or a clamp block. The fan shall be capable of either intake or exhaust ventilation at the discretion of the user without modification of the unit. The units are to have lifting lugs provided as standard equipment.
The design shall provide for complete protection from the elements for either supply or exhaust airflow. The fan assembly is to be placed in the upper section of the ventilator base with the propeller on the downside. The motor is totally enclosed air over type, located above the fan assembly and enclosed by the hood. The motor base shall be steel and shall be supported by oversized solid steel support rods to provide rugged construction. The unit shall be a compact, low profile ventilator.
The galvanneal steel base shall be a minimum of 14 gauge material, and the hood shall be a minimum 18 gauge galvanneal steel.
The fan assembly in the hooded ventilator shall be dynamically balanced at the Hartzell factory prior to shipping. Fans shall be balanced in accordance with AMCA Standard 204-96, fan application category BV-3 (comparable to Grade G6.3). This fan shall be manufactured in accordance with Hartzell's standard quality assurance procedures. Fan performance shall be based on tests conducted in Hartzell's AMCA accredited test laboratory and in accordance with AMCA Standard 210 for air performance and AMCA Standard 300 for sound.
